Observational study of cervical human papillomavirus infection in infertile population
Objective Analyze the infection with the human papillomavirus(HPV)in the female infertile population, and explore the correlation between the HPV infection and the occurrence of infertility. Methods Retrospectively analyzed HPV infection in the infertile population(infertile group)and in the outpatient population(control group)who underwent HPV testing in Union Hospital,Tongji Medical College,Huazhong University of Science and Technology from January 2013 to December 2022,and compared the infection status of two groups of HPV and their different subtypes. To further clarify whether HPV infection was associated with infertility, binary Logistic regression analysis was used to explore HPV subtypes associated with infertility in different age groups. Results There was no difference in either high-risk or low-risk HPV infections between the two groups(P>0.05).Stratified analysis by age group showed that the HPV infection rate in infertility patients aged 20~30 was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The result of the Logistic regression suggested that the incidence of infertility in young people aged 20~30 was not related to HPV infection. The infection rates of HPV66 and HPV68 in high-risk HPV patients aged 30~40 with infertility were higher than those in the control group, and the risk of infertility was 1.396 times and 1.383 times higher than that of non infection,respectively(OR:1.396,95%CI:1.083-1.800;OR:1.383,95%CI:1.054-1.816).The infection rates of HPV16 and HPV66 in high-risk HPV patients aged 40~50 years old with infertility were higher than those in the control group. The risk of infertility was 1.762 times and 2.222 times higher than that of the uninfected population(OR:1.762,95CI:1.343-2.313;OR:2.222,95%CI:1.377-3.586).Infection with low-risk HPV subtypes HPV6 and HPV11 was a potential risk factor for the development of infertility in infertile women older than 30 years(OR:1.463,95%CI:1.161-1.844;OR:1.935,95%CI:1.432-2.615).Conclusions HPV infection is associated with the development of female infertility.HPV infection with the subtypes HPV16,HPV66,HPV68,HPV6 and HPV11 may be a potential risk factor for infertility in women over 30 years of age.
