Meta analysis of the relationship between Group B streptococcal infection and pregnancy outcomes in pregnant women from 17 regions of China
Objective To systematically evaluate the impact and correlation of group B streptococcal(GBS)infection on pregnancy outcomes in different regions of China,in order to provide a theoretical basis for clinicians to screen GBS.Methods We searched the databases for relevant articles about the relationship between GBS infection and pregnancy outcome published from establishment of each database to January 2023.2 researchers independently screened the literature and extracted data(first author, year of publication, region, type of study, gestational week of enrollment, sample size,GBS detection methods, main outcome indicators).Meta-analysis was performed by Stata 16.0 software. The quality of literature was evaluated by Newcastle-Ottawa Scale(NOS)quality evaluation scale.Funnel plot and egger test were used to evaluate publication bias. Results A total of 18 articles were included, involving 1722 GBS positive patients and 8343 negative patients from 17 regions in China, with moderate or high methodological quality.Meta-analysis showed that compared with GBS negative patients,GBS positive patients were more prone to intrauterine infection, premature rupture of membranes, fetal distress, amniotic fluid pollution, postpartum hemorrhage, premature birth and puerperal infection. Conclusion GBS infection is an important risk factor for adverse pregnancy outcomes among pregnant women in 17 regions of China and early screening and diagnosis of GBS infection should be emphasized.
