Development and Application of Microneedle Materials
Microneedle is a painless transdermal drug delivery system that has become a hot topic in drug formulation development in recent years due to its numerous advantages of avoiding the first-pass effect,maintaining smooth blood concentration,and providing high bioavailability,good safety and patient compliance.However,despite these benefits,there are several challenges associated with microneedle technology,including poor biocompatibility,limited drug loading capacity,unstable drug release,and restricted mechanical properties.The microneedle materials play a crucial role in determining the direction of clinical applications,drug-loading capability,and drug stability.This review summarizes and organizes the research progress made in the field of various new microneedle materials,as well as highlights their potential applications and prospects,hoping to provide a valuable reference for the development of microneedle formulations.
