Exploration of the mechanism of action of Radix Paeoniae Rubra for anti-tumor metastasis based on network pharmacology
Objective To explore the mechanism of action of Radix Paeoniae Rubra for anti-tumor metastasis through network pharmacology. Methods The active ingredients and targets of Radix Paeoniae Rubra were obtained through traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology database and analysis platform(TCMSP)and PharmaMapper databases, and tumor metastasis-related targets were obtained through GeneCards and online mendelian inheritance in man(OMIM)databases, thereby obtaining potential targets for drug active ingredients to treat diseases.A protein-protein interaction(PPI)network was built, enrichment analysis of potential targets was conducted using the DAVID database, and core components and key targets were screened using Cytoscape 3.9.0 software while conducting molecular docking verification. Results A total of 29 eligible drug active ingredients, and their 132 action targets and 115 intersection targets were obtained. The main signal pathways included cancer signal pathway, lipids and atherosclerosis, prostate cancer, etc. The molecular docking results indicated that the core components of Radix Paeoniae Rubra in anti-tumor metastasis had a strong binding activity with the core targets of diseases. Conclusion Radix Paeoniae Rubra exerts anti-tumor metastasis effects through multiple components, targets, and pathways.
