Exploration of the construction of a vision screening and prevention system for the eye care of children in kindergartens in Panyu District
Objective To conduct vision screening for eye care of children in kindergartens,understand the incidence of abnormal vision screening results for children in kindergartens,investigate the diagnosis and treatment of vision abnormalities,and establish an appropriate vision screening and prevention system for eye care of children in kindergartens.Methods The vision screening data of a total of 4308 children from 10 kindergartens in Panyu District from January to December 2022 were selected for retrospective analysis to track the follow-up and diagnosis and treatment of all children with abnormal vision screening results in the preliminary screening.Results Among 4308 children in kindergartens,4010 showed no abnormalities in the preliminary screening results of vision screening,179 showed mild abnormalities,and 119 showed abnormalities,with an abnormality rate of 6.92%.Out of a total of 298 children with mild and abnormal screening results in the preliminary screening,278 were traced to medical institutions for follow-up,with a follow-up rate of 93.29%.The results of the follow-up were normal for 25 people,and abnormal for 253 people,with 110 children already wearing glasses.It indicated that children's vision abnormalities are occurring at younger ages.Conclusion The situation that a certain proportion of children in kindergartens in Panyu District were found to have abnormal vision screening results for eye care of children cannot be ignored.Early implementation of vision screening can help timely detect children with abnormal vision,and timely and effective correction can delay the development of vision abnormalities.Effective education and timely intervention can reduce the incidence and severity of vision abnormalities in children in kindergartens.
