Clinical observation on the therapeutic effect of a high protein diet combined with Qingshen Decoction on obese patients with spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction type
Objective To explore the clinical therapeutic effect of a high protein diet combined with Qingshen Decoction on obese patients with spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction type. Methods A total of 78 obese patients with spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction type who visited the Department of Nutrition,Shanxi Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital from February 1,2022 to February 1,2023 were selected and divided into a diet group and a combined treatment group by random number table method, with 39 patients in each group. The diet group received intervention with a high protein diet, while the combined group received an additional 200 ml of Qingshen decoction on the basis of the intervention in the diet group. The intervention lasted for 60 days. The weight loss efficiency, average daily energy intake, average daily protein intake percentage, body mass index(BMI),body weight(BW),waist circumference(M62),body fat mass(BFM),visceral fat area(VFA),triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TCH),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL),creatinine(Cr),blood urea nitrogen(BUN),uric acid(UA),and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score(TCMSS)were compared between the two groups. Results The weight loss efficiency of the combined treatment group was higher than that of the diet group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After the intervention, the average daily energy intake,BMI,BW,M62,BFM,VFA,TG,TCH,LDL,UA and TCMSS of the two groups were lower than those before the intervention, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After the intervention, the average daily protein intake percentage of both groups was higher than that before the intervention, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in Cr and BUN between the two groups compared to those before intervention(P>0.05).After intervention, the average daily energy intake,BMI,M62,BFM,VFA,TG,LDL,and TCMSS of the combined treatment group were lower than those of the diet group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in BW,TCH,and UA between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion A 60-day high protein diet combined with Qingshen decoction can significantly reduce the weight of obese patients with spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction type, improve blood lipid metabolism, and alleviate the symptoms of spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction.
