Study on the value of ultrasound-guided FNAC combined with BRAFV600e gene detection in the prognosis of thyroid cancer
Objective To explore the clinical value of ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration cytology(FNAC)combined with BRAFV600e gene detection in prognostic evaluation of thyroid cancer. Methods A total of 121 patients with suspected lymph node metastasis who were diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent radical surgery for thyroid cancer at Jingzhou Hospital Affiliated to Yangtze University from August 2020 to December 2022 were selected as the study subjects. All patients had received ultrasound-guided FNAC detection and BRAFV600e gene detection before surgery, and the postoperative pathological test results of the patients were used as the gold standard to calculate the diagnostic value of ultrasound-guided FNAC detection and BRAFV600e gene detection for lymph node metastasis in thyroid cancer. Results Using pathological results as the gold standard, the diagnostic consistency of FNAC guided by ultrasound for lymph node metastasis of thyroid cancer was 71.07%(86/121),the diagnostic sensitivity was 73.53%(75/102),and the diagnostic specificity was 57.89%(11/19).The diagnostic consistency of BRAFV600e gene detection for lymph node metastasis in thyroid cancer was 83.47%(101/121),the diagnostic sensitivity was 87.25%(89/102),and the diagnostic specificity was 63.16%(12/19).The diagnostic consistency of ultrasound-guided FNAC combined with BRAFV600e gene detection for lymph node metastasis in thyroid cancer was 97.52%(118/121),the diagnostic sensitivity was 98.04%(100/102),and the diagnostic specificity was 94.74%(18/19).The diagnostic consistency, sensitivity, and specificity of combined testing were significantly higher than those of any single detection method, with statistically significant differences between groups(P<0.05).Conclusion Ultrasound-guided FNAC combined with BRAFV600e gene detection has good diagnostic efficacy for lymph node metastasis in thyroid cancer, which is superior to any single detection. It is recommended to apply it in the differential diagnosis of lymph node metastasis in thyroid cancer patients.
