Analysis of comparison of clinical efficacy between tympanic membrane incision and tympanic membrane catheterization under the otoendoscope in the treatment of otitis media with effusion in children
Objective To study the role and effectiveness of tympanic membrane incision and tympanic membrane catheterization under the otoendoscope in children with chronic otitis media with effusion. Methods A total of 128 patients with chronic otitis media with effusion admitted to the Otolaryngology Department of the 926th Hospital of Joint Logistics Support Force of Chinese People's Liberation Army from January 2017 to June 2022 were selected and divided into Group A and Group B by random number table method, with 64 patients in each group.Group A underwent tympanic membrane incision under the otoendoscope.Group B received tympanic membrane catheterization under the otoendoscope. The efficacy, overall incidence of complications, duration of effusion existence, and increase in the amplitude of the hearing threshold were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of Group B was higher than that of Group A,and the overall incidence of complications in Group B was lower than that of Group A.The tympanic effusion in Group B was quickly absorbed, and the duration of effusion existence of Group B was significantly shorter than that of Group A.The increase in the amplitude of the hearing threshold in Group B was significantly greater than that of Group A,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion The tympanic membrane catheterization under the otoendoscope is effective in treating chronic otitis media with effusion in children, with fewer complications.
