In vitro study on the effect of a new magnesium alloy on the biological characteristics of Staphylococcus aureus
Objective To explore the effect of a new magnesium alloy on the biological characteristics of Staphylococcus aureus. Methods There were two groups,an experimental group(with new magnesium alloy)and a control group(without new magnesium alloy)in the experiment, each with 3 replicate wells.Staphylococcus aureus proliferation experiment,Staphylococcus aureus plasma coagulase experiment,Staphylococcus aureus hemolysin experiment, and antibiotic antibacterial ring experiment were conducted respectively, and statistical analysis was performed after the experiments. Results The results of bacterial proliferation experiments showed that at the same time point, the OD values of the experimental group with different concentrations were significantly lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).At different time points, the OD values of the experimental group at the same concentration were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).As the cultivation time prolonged, the difference in OD values between the experimental group and the control group at the same concentration gradually increased(P<0.05).The results of the Staphylococcus aureus plasma coagulase experiment showed that compared with the control group, the experimental group had smaller agglutination particles, and as the cultivation time prolonged, the agglutination particles gradually became smaller. The hemolysin test results of Staphylococcus aureus showed that compared with the control group, the β-hemolytic rings in the experimental group were relatively small and decreased with culture time, and after 7 days of cultivation, the β-hemolytic rings disappeared. The results of the antibiotic antibacterial ring experiment showed that compared with the control group, all antibiotics in the experimental group had larger inhibition ring diameters at days 1,3,5,and 7,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Magnesium alloy has the ability to inhibit the proliferation of Staphylococcus aureus. At the same time,it also has impacts on its plasma coagulase, hemolysin, and antibiotic antibacterial properties.
