Research progress in traditional Chinese medicine in regulating macrophage polarization to alleviate ulcerative colitis
Ulcerative colitis(UC)is a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestine related to intestinal immunity.Being inherent immune cells, macrophages play a crucial role in the intestinal immune barrier, which can quickly induce under external stimuli, and play pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory roles in the body.Macrophage polarization plays an important role in the pathogenesis of UC.At present, the long-term treatment of UC with Western medicine is accompanied by significant side effects, and the prognosis is not satisfactory. In clinical treatment,it has been found that traditional Chinese medicine has the advantage of high efficacy and minimal side effects in diagnosing and treating this disease. However, the mechanism of action of traditional Chinese medicine in treating this disease is not clear. Therefore, this article explores the relationship between UC and macrophage polarization from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine in regulating macrophage polarization to alleviate ulcerative colitis, and clarifies that the mechanism of action of traditional Chinese medicine in treating UC may be the regulation of macrophage polarization to alleviate intestinal inflammation and repair the intestinal mucosal barrier.
