A clinical study on the treatment of nausea and vomiting in patients with chronic kidney disease by pre-embedding pressing needles
Objective To explore clinical effect on the treatment of nausea and vomiting in patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD)by pre-embedding pressing needles. Methods Patients with CKD and nausea and vomiting who were admitted to the Department of Nephrology of Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Chongqing Three Gorges Medical College from January 1 to April 30,2023 were selected and randomly divided into a control group,a pressing needle group, and a combination group using a random number table method, with 20 patients in each group. The control group received conventional antiemetic drugs(proton pump inhibitors + gastrointestinal motility promoting drugs). The pressing needle group received pressing needles pre-embedded in Neiguan,Zusanli, and Futonggu acupoints. The combination group received pre-embedding of pressing needles based on the methods used in control group for a total of 7 days of treatment. The grading of nausea and vomiting and the score of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms were compared after treatment on the 4th and 7th day. Results Compared with those before intervention, the symptoms of all three groups improved on the 4th and 7th day of intervention, and the nausea and vomiting scores were significantly reduced, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After 7th day of intervention, nausea and vomiting scores were lower in the lift-off and combination groups than in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The nausea and vomiting scores of the pressing needle group were similar to those of the combination group, with no statistically significant differences(P>0.05).Comparison of traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores among three groups of CKD patients after intervention:the time, frequency, and symptoms of nausea and vomiting in the three groups after 4 and 7 days of intervention were lower than before intervention, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The scores of the combination group after 7 days of intervention were significantly lower than those of the control group, with ststistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion The pre-embedding of pressing needles in Zusanli,Neiguan, and Futonggu has a significant effect on improving nausea and vomiting symptoms in CKD patients and is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
