Analysis of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome types and degree of renal function damage in patients with renal damage after hypertension at a certain hospital in Taicang City
Objective To explore the relationship between traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome types of renal damage after hypertension and renal function in a certain hospital in Taicang area. Methods A total of 363 patients with renal damage after hypertension diagnosed and treated at Taicang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine(our hospital)from October 2021 to October 2022 were included. They were divided into three groups based on their age:young,middle-aged,and elderly. The correlation between TCM syndrome types, blood pressure levels, and degree of renal function damage in different age groups was statistically analyzed. Results The TCM syndrome types of renal damage after hypertension in the Taicang area, from high to low, were spleen and kidney deficiency, yin deficiency of the liver and kidney, liver yang hyperactivity, and binding of phlegm and stasis. The liver yang hyperactivity type was the most common in young group, while the middle-aged group has the least binding of phlegm and stasis, the other syndrome types were almost equal, and the spleen and kidney deficiency type was the most common in elderly group. There was a statistically significant difference in the proportion of spleen kidney deficiency and liver yang hyperactivity among the three groups(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the binding of phlegm and stasis, and the yin deficiency of the liver and kidney among the three groups(P>0.05).The blood pressure among the three groups was compared, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The creatinine and urea nitrogen were compared among different age groups, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05),but the GFR was compared among different age groups, without statistically significant difference(P>0.05).The systolic and diastolic blood pressure were compared among different syndrome types, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05),but the creatinine, urinary microalbumin, and 24-hour proteinuria quantification were compared, without statistically significant differences(P>0.05).Conclusion Renal damage after hypertension in our hospital in Taicang City mainly occurred in elderly patients, with spleen and kidney deficiency being the most common syndrome type. There are certain differences in blood pressure, renal function, and other aspects among different ages and syndrome types.Clinical practice should be personalized, with early diagnosis and intervention for middle-aged and young people to prevent and treat disease progression. For elderly patients,we should pay more attention to blood pressure and the degree of renal function damage.
