The application of clinical pathway learning combined with problem-based learning and case-based learning in the cultivation of the master of medicine
Objective To explore the application effect of the combination of clinical pathway learning(CPL),problem-based learning(PBL),and case-based learning(CBL)in the cultivation of masters of medicine. Methods A total of 110 masters of medicine who received standardized training for residents at the Department of Endocrinology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University from August 2022 to August 2023 were selected as the research subjects. They were divided into a group for CPL combined with PBL and CBL(the test group,n=55)and a traditional teaching group(the control group,n=55)using a random number table method. After the two-month practical learning, the learning effects of the two learning modes were analyzed and compared through professional skills assessment, online exams, survey questionnaires, and teacher-student discussions for the masters of medicine. Results The scores of professional theories, operation of practical skills, case analysis, simulated diagnosis and treatment, medical record quality, and comprehensive ability evaluation in the test group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The satisfaction with the standardization of the teaching process, knowledge and skills imparting, improvement in the learning efficiency of the masters of medicine, improvement in literature retrieval ability, and improvement in clinical thinking ability of the tutor in the test group was higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion The CPL combined with PBL and CBL can help masters of medicine to have a more comprehensive understanding and mastery of medical professional knowledge, improve learning effects, and train medical talents with high comprehensive literacy to better adapt to clinical practice needs.
