Clinical application of ultrasound-guided intramuscular electrical stimulation of rectus abdominis muscle in postoperative analgesia of patients undergoing upper abdominal open surgery
Objective To investigate the application effect of ultrasound-guided intramuscular electrical stimulation of rectus abdominis muscle in postoperative analgesia of patients undergoing upper abdominal open surgery. Methods This study was a prospective,single-center,single-blind randomized controlled trial.A total of 80 patients selectively undergoing upper abdominal open surgery admitted to Zhongshan City People's Hospital from May 2022 to August 2023 were selected, and they were divided into the control group(n=40)and the observation group(n=40)according to the random number table method. Both groups were treated with self-control intravenous analgesia pumps after surgery, while the observation group was treated with intramuscular electrical stimulation of rectus abdominis muscle under ultrasound guidance after surgery. The amount of opioid drugs used during the perioperative period for the two groups, the visual analogue scale(VAS)of pain score for the first three days after surgery, the total hospitalization days, and the occurrence of adverse reactions(ADRs)were recorded. Results The total amount of opioid drugs used in the observation group during the perioperative period was less than that in the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The VAS scores of the observation group in the first three days after surgery were all lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The total hospitalization days of the observation group were shorter than those of the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The total incidence of postoperative ADRs in patients of the observation group was lower than that in patients of the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Intramuscular electrical stimulation of rectus abdominis muscle under the guidance of ultrasound can reduce the total consumption of opioid drugs, reduce the postoperative VAS scores, shorten the total hospitalization days and reduce the incidence of ADRs of patients undergoing upper abdominal open surgery during the perioperative period.
