Effect of nursing combined with nutrition intervention based on the theory of behavioral stage change on the nursing outcomes of patients with advanced gastric cancer
Objective To explore the effect of nursing combined with nutrition intervention based on the theory of behavioral stage change on cancer pain, quality of life, and cancer-related fatigue in patients with advanced gastric cancer. Methods A total of 90 patients with advanced gastric cancer admitted to Fujian Cancer Hospital from January 2020 to January 2023 were selected and randomly divided into a control group(45 cases)and an observation group(45 cases). The control group received intervention under routine care, while the observation group received nursing combined with nutrition intervention based on the theory of behavioral stage change. The nutritional levels,cancer-related fatigue, quality of life, and pain levels were compared between the two groups of patients. Results The plasma total protein and albumin levels in the observation group after nursing were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Cancer-caused fatigue scores in behavioral, cognitive, somatic, and affective domains were lower in the observation group than in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The quality of life score of the observation group after nursing was higher than that of the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The numerical rating scale(NRS)score of the observation group after nursing was lower than that of the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion The nursing combined with nutrition intervention based on the theory of behavioral stage change can help improve the nutritional level of patients with advanced gastric cancer, reduce cancer-related fatigue, alleviate pain, and improve their quality of life.
