Clinical application of multifocal intraocular lens implantation in age-related cataracts
Objective To investigate the effectiveness and safety of multifocal intraocular lens(MIOL)implantation in patients with age-related cataracts(ARC).Methods A clinical prospective grouping comparison study was conducted, with 100 patients selected, who met the requirements of the ARC diagnosis and were treated at our hospital's Outpatient Department from August 2020 to August 2021.They were divided into an experimental group and a control group using a random number table method. The experimental group was treated with cataract phacoemulsification combined with multifocal intraocular lens implantation, while the control group was treated with cataract phacoemulsification combined with monofocal intraocular lens implantation. The comparison was made between the two groups at 1 week,1 month and 3 months after surgery in the following aspects:uncorrected distant visual acuity(UDVA),uncorrected intermediate visual acuity(UIVA),uncorrected near visual acuity(UNVA),optimal corrected near visual acuity and optimal corrected distant visual acuity. In addition, visual quality at 3 months after surgery was also compared between the two groups. Results The UNVA,UIVA,UDVA,optimal corrected distant visual acuity, and optimal corrected near visual acuity of the two groups of patients at 3 months after surgery were significantly improved compared to those at 1 week after surgery in the same group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).One week after surgery, the experimental group had significantly better UNVA,UIVA,optimal corrected distant visual acuity, and optimal corrected near visual acuity than the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).One month after surgery, the experimental group had significantly better UNVA,UIVA,optimal corrected distant visual acuity, and optimal corrected near visual acuity than the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Three months after surgery, the experimental group had significantly better UNVA,UIVA,optimal corrected distant visual acuity, and optimal corrected near visual acuity than the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After 3 months of surgery, the scores of near visual acuity dimension, intermediate visual acuity dimension, and spectacles-independent rate dimension in the experimental group were significantly better than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Multifocal intraocular lens implantation can not only improve the distant, intermediate, and near visual acuity of ARC patients, but also improve the spectacles-independent rate, with good subjective visual quality after surgery.
