Research progress of brain-gut axis and diarrhea type irritable bowel syndrome from traditional Chinese medicine
Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)is a common functional bowel disease, and its symptoms appear repeatedly, which is greatly influenced by emotional stress and lifestyle. It is similar to abdominal pain and diarrhea caused by liver depression and spleen deficiency in traditional Chinese medicine.Abnormal sensation and regulation of the brain-gut axis on the central nervous system can worsen its perception and reflex response, leading to visceral hypersensitivity and dysfunction of gastrointestinal motility. In recent years, traditional Chinese medicine has achieved good clinical results in treating diarrhea type irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-D).By consulting clinical data and related literature, the authors discuss the clinical efficacy and research progress of traditional Chinese medicine in treating IBS-D from the brain-intestine axis in this paper, and provide further theoretical basis for its treatment.
