Retrospective analysis of short-term efficacy of low-frequency electroacupuncture combined with cognitive behavioral therapy in the intervention of insomnia
Objective To evaluate the short-term clinical efficacy of low-frequency electroacupuncture combined with cognitive behavioral therapy in the intervention of insomnia. Methods The clinical data of 96 patients with insomnia admitted to the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of the Affiliated Wuxi People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University(Wuxi People's Hospital,Wuxi Medical Center,Nanjing Medical University)from January 2018 to May 2023 were retrospectively analyzed, and they were divided into the observation group(n=48)and the control group(n=48)according to different treatment methods. The observation group was treated with low-frequency electroacupuncture combined with cognitive behavioral therapy, and the control group was treated with low-frequency electroacupuncture alone. The scores of the Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI),the insomnia severity index(ISI),Epworth sleepiness scale(ESS),and dysfunctional beliefs and attitudes about sleep scale(DBAS)of patients in the two groups were measured and compared before and after three treatments, and their comprehensive efficacy was evaluated. Results The PSQI,ISI,and ESS scores of the two groups after the treatment were lower than the scores before the treatment, while the PSQI sleep rate and DBAS scores were higher than those before the treatment, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After the treatment, the PSQI score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, while the DBAS score was higher than that of the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The difference in PSQI score,PSQI sleep rate,ISI score,ESS score, and DBAS score before and after the treatment in the observation group was greater than that in the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The total effective rate of treatment of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Both low-frequency electroacupuncture therapy and low-frequency electroacupuncture combined with cognitive-behavioral therapy can improve the sleep comprehensive state, reduce ISI,improve daytime drowsiness symptoms, and correct poor cognition in insomnia patients in the short term.However,low-frequency electroacupuncture combined with cognitive-behavioral therapy has more significant efficacy in improving patients'sleep comprehensive state and correcting poor sleep cognition, which is worth promoting.
