Research progress of low intensity pulsed ultrasound in the field of oral implantation
Low intensity pulsed ultrasound(LIPUS)is a safe, simple and easy non-invasive physical therapy method. It stimulates human tissues with low-intensity pulsed ultrasound to produce biological effects, and has been widely used to accelerate the repair and regeneration of various tissues.Early discovery of LIPUS showed positive effect in the treatment of fracture healing. With the exploration of its biological mechanism,it is gradually discovered that LIPUS could inhibit inflammation and regulate nerves.Nowadays, its clinical application is gradually extended to the healing of oral and maxillofacial bone tissue. In order to obtain the restoration effect which is very similar to the function, structure and aesthetic effect of natural teeth,it is very important to restore and reconstruct the soft and hard tissues around the implant. It is found that ultrasonic stimulation can have biological effects on the tissues around the implant after implantation operation. In this paper, the function mechanism of LIPUS and its research and application progress in peri-implant tissues are reviewed,so as to provide theoretical basis for its application in clinical implant restoration.
