Comparative analysis of knee epiphyseal plate-diaphyseal angle measurement and traditional measurement in detection of inversion and eversion of children's knee joint
Objective To conduct knee epiphyseal plate-diaphyseal angle measurement for children with knee inversion and eversion, and explore its clinical value. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 200 children with knee inversion and eversion who visited the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics,Mianyang Orthopaedic Hospital from February 2020 to February 2023.The subjects were divided into three age groups:<2 years old,2-<5 years old,and 5-12 years old.All children were measured using both traditional method and knee epiphyseal plate-diaphyseal angle measurement. The results of traditional measurement method were included in the control group, while the results of knee epiphyseal plate-diaphyseal angle measurement were included in the experimental group. The diagnostic rates of mild, moderate, and severe knee inversion and eversion using two measurement methods were compared. Results Among 200 children,36 children were<2 years old:16 children had mild symptoms,20 had moderate symptoms, and 0 had severe symptoms.84 children were 2-<5 years old:35 children had mild symptoms,49 had moderate symptom, and 0 had severe symptoms.80 children were 5-12 years old:36 children had mild symptoms,44 had moderate symptom, and 0 had severe symptoms. There were a total of 87 children who had mild symptoms,113 had moderate symptoms, and 0 had severe symptoms. The detection rate of knee epiphyseal plate-diaphyseal angle measurement method is higher to traditional measurement methods in mild and moderate types(P<0.05).Conclusion The knee epiphyseal plate-diaphyseal angle measurement has clinical application value in the detection rate of knee inversion and eversion.
