Investigation on the correlation between metabolically healthy obesity and new simplified evaluation index of insulin resistance
Objective To investigate the correlation between metabolically healthy obesity(MHO)and new simplified evaluation index of insulin resistance. Methods Obese population undergoing health examinations in a community in Suzhou,Anhui Province from September 2020 to March 2021 were selected, and they were divided into the metabolically unhealthy obesity(MUO)group(n=3 13)and the MHO group(n=118)based on metabolic abnormalities, and population with normal body weight and metabolism during the same period were selected and divided into the healthy control(HC)group(n=87).All 3 groups were investigated by general information questionnaire and the new simplified evaluation index examination of insulin resistance. The correlation between the new evaluation indices of insulin resistance and MHO patients was analyzed by univariate and logistic regression models. Results Logistic regression analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in the TyG-BMI index(TyG-BMI),TyG waist circumference index(TyG-WC)and insulin sensitivity score(e-IS)between the population in the MHO group and other groups(all P<0.05).Conclusion MHO patients are significantly correlated with the changes of TyG-BMI,TyG-WC and e-IS,and the risk of developing insulin resistance is significantly increased, providing a theoretical basis for early intervention in this population.
