Efficacy of akupotomye combined with functional training on patients with knee osteoarthritis
Objective To observe the efficacy of akupotomye combined with functional training on patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA).Methods A total of 64 patients with KOA admitted to the People's Hospital Affiliated to Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from October 2021 to June 2023 were selected and divided into the observation group(n=32)and the control group(n=32)according to the random number table method. Both groups were given oral celecoxib capsules. The control group was treated with simple functional training, while t he observation group was treated with akupotomye combined with functional training. The visual analogue scale(VAS)score, the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC)score, and the elastic modulus value of ultrasonic shear wave of the quadriceps femoris were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results Before treatment, there were no statistically significant differences in the scores of VAS and WOMAC between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the VAS and WOMAC scores of both groups were lower than before treatment, and the scores of VAS and WOMAC in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in the elastic modulus value of ultrasonic shear wave of the quadriceps femoris between the two groups(P>0.05).The elastic modulus value of ultrasonic shear wave of the quadriceps femoris in both groups were lower than those before treatment, and moduli in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Akupotomye combined with functional training can effectively relieve pain, improve clinical symptoms and reduce the elastic modulus of ultrasonic shear wave in quadriceps femoris, which is superior to functional training alone.
