Detection of severe pneumonia caused by Stenotrophomonas maltophilia by nanopore sequencing:a case report
Stenotrophomonas maltophilia pneumonia is a kind of pneumonia caused by Stenotrophomonas maltophilia infection. The conventional pathogen culture method for detection has a low positive rate, high false negative rate and a long cycle, and the pathogenic evidence cannot be accurately obtained in a short term, which affects the prognosis. This paper discussed a relatively faster and more accurate detection method.Being a third-generation sequencing technology, nanopore sequencing(NTS)has advantages over conventional methods in terms of cost and time efficiency,as well as high throughput. In this report,a case of severe hospital-acquired pneumonia caused by pseudomonas maltophilia was detected. The results indicated that the pathogen was caused by Stenotrophomonas maltophilia. This case report provides evidence that NTS can quickly identify pathogens, which is of great significance for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
