Research progress on molecular mechanism related to sarcopenia and osteoporosis in the elderly
Sarcopenia and osteoporosis are considered as a kind of comorbidity cluster in senile syndrome, which directly leads to weakness, fall, disability, cardiovascular malignant events and even death in the elderly.More and more evidence supports that they are closely related and jointly promoted, and the correlation mechanism is very complicated. It includes the participation of many molecular mechanisms, such as receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB/receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand/osteoprotegerin,arginine/arginase-1 pathway and so on.They collude with each other, accelerate progress, and eventually lead to a vicious cycle.Given the fact that there is still no effective treatment strategy for sarcopenia, the research progress on the molecular mechanism of the internal relationship between these two diseases is reviewed in this paper so as to provide a new way to find effective intervention methods.
