The value of clinical pathway teaching method combined with team teaching in teaching practice nursing students in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery
Objective To explore the value of clinical pathway teaching method combined with team teaching in teaching practice nursing students in department of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery.Methods Nursing students who came to the First Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu Medical College for internship in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology,Head and Neck Surgery from January 2020 to June 2021 and from July 2021 to January 2023 were included in the control group and the observation group respectively,with 30 students in each group.The control group adopted the traditional teaching mode,and the observation group adopted the clinical pathway teaching method combined with team teaching mode.After the completion of the internship,the assessment scores of the two groups were compared(theoretical knowledge,nursing checkup,skill operation,and comprehensive ability),caring ability(assessed by caring ability inventory[CAI]),evaluation of the internship-related departments(teaching atmosphere,attitude,effect,and arrangement),self-directed learning ability(assessed by self-rating scale of self-directed learning[SRSSDL])and patient satisfaction.and patient satisfaction.Results After the completion of the internship,the observation group's theoretical knowledge scores,nursing checkup scores,skill operation scores,comprehensive ability scores and total scores were higher than those of the control group,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The scores and total scores of all aspects of CAI in the observation group were higher than those of the control group,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The observation group had higher teaching atmosphere,effectiveness,arrangement scores,and total scores of internship related departments compared to the control group,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The ratings and total scores of SRSSDL dimensions in the observation group were higher than those of the control group,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Patient satisfaction with the internship nursing students in the observation group was higher than that in the control group,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of clinical pathway teaching method combined with team teaching in teaching practice of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery can effectively improve the nursing students'caring ability,comprehensive ability and initiative,and promote the quality of teaching.Therefore,it is worthy of clinical promotion.
