Research on the practical effects of improving the quality of outpatient medical services under the background of performance evaluation in tertiary public hospitals
Objective To analyze the impact of performance evaluation in tertiary public hospitals on the quality of outpatient medical services in hospitals,and propose improvement measures by comparing the quality of outpatient medical services before and after the implementation of performance evaluation in tertiary public hospitals of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University.Methods Indicators for outpatient medical service quality,including outpatient operation,appointment management,patient waiting time,outpatient medical safety,and patient evaluation,from January 1 to December 31,2022 after the implementation of performance evaluation in tertiary public hospitals,and from January 1 to December 31,2018 before the implementation of performance evaluation in tertiary public hospitals were screened.Analyzed the differences in outpatient medical service quality before and after the implementation of performance evaluation in tertiary public hospitals.Results After the implementation of performance evaluation in tertiary public hospitals,the total number of outpatient visits increased by 11.8%year-on-year,the number of specialist visits increased by 63.7%year-on-year,and the number of general outpatient visits decreased by 45.7%year-on-year,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The number of online appointment booking increased by 46.4%year-on-year,the number of time-slot consultation increased by 41.0%year-on-year,the number of on-time visit increased by 43.0%year-on-year,and the number of cancellation decreased by 95.3%year-on-year,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The waiting time of patients also decreased,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in outpatient medical safety statistics(P>0.05),but outpatient medical safety management has been gradually improving;the satisfaction of outpatient patients has also significantly improved.Conclusion The performance evaluation of tertiary public hospitals quantifies the quality of various services and has a significant effect on improving the quality of outpatient services in hospitals.
