Investigation on the clinical therapeutic efficacy of vitamin D supplementation on gestational diabetes mellitus complicated with subclinical hypothyroidism
Objective To investigate the clinical effects of vitamin D treatment in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)complicated by subclinical hypothyroidism. Methods A total of 90 patients with GDM complicated by subclinical hypothyroidism admitted to Binzhou Central Hospital from March 2021 to February 2023 were randomly divided into two groups, with 45 patients in each group. The control group received basic treatment, while the observation group received vitamin D treatment in addition to the basic treatment. Both groups were treated continuously for one month.Blood glucose and thyroid function indicators were compared between the two groups, and the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes was statistically analyzed. Results After treatment, the observation group had significantly lower levels of fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes compared to the control group. The observation group also had significantly lower levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone and higher levels of thyroxine,25-hydroxyvitamin D2,and serum calcium ions compared to the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Vitamin D supplementation in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus complicated by subclinical hypothyroidism can help regulate blood glucose and thyroid function indicators, reduce the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes, and improve prognosis.
