Comparative analysis of diagnostic efficacy between CT and MRI in the diagnosis of gouty arthritis
Objective To compare and analyze the diagnostic efficacy between computed tomography(CT)and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)in the diagnosis of gouty arthritis. Methods A total of 52 patients with knee arthritis(71 knees)admitted to Yueyang Central Hospital from January 2019 to June 2023 were selected retrospectively as the study subjects. All patients were examined by CT and MRI,and the gold standard was joint fluid, tophi puncture biopsy and clinical diagnosis results. The pathological signs, detection results and diagnostic efficacy of CT and MRI in gouty arthritis were statistically compared. Results The detection rate of characteristic urate crystals in gouty arthritis by CT examination was higher than that by MRI examination, and the detection rate of accompanying signs such as bone abnormalities, joint effusion, synovial hypertrophy, etc.was lower than that by MRI examination, with statistical significance(P<0.05).The diagnostic efficacy of CT in gouty arthritis was higher than that of MRI examination, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion In the diagnosis of gouty arthritis,CT examination has a higher diagnostic efficacy and can clearly display the specific condition of gouty stones. However, although MRI examination has poor qualitative ability,it can clearly display the signs of the disease, which helps to evaluate the overall degree of joint damage.
