Clinical controlled study on the combination of traditional Chinese medicine moisturizing lung ointment and tiotropium bromide in the treatment of stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Objective To explore the therapeutic effects and anti-inflammatory mechanisms of traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD),and evaluate the impact of treatment on the quality of life of patients. Methods A total of 140 patients with stable COPD of Grade Ⅱ in Gaomi People's Hospital Affiliated to Shandong Second Medical University from November 2021 to January 2023 were selected as the study subject, and were randomly divided into study group and control group according to a random number table, with 70 patients in each group. All patients were treated with basic western medicine and given a daily dose of 18 μg of tiotropium bromide powder inhaler. The study group added traditional Chinese medicine to moisten lung ointment twice a day,20 g each time. Both groups were treated for 2 months as 1 course of treatment and 2 consecutive courses of treatment.Lung function and serum inflammatory factor levels of tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-6 and interleukin-8 were measured before and after treatment, the quality of life was examined by the COPD test scale, and changes in patients'conditions and hospitalization were recorded. Results After treatment, the COPD assessment test scale score of the study group was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The lung function indexes of the study group were better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum inflammatory factor level of the study group was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The number of colds, the number of acute exacerbations, and the number of hospitalizations of the study groups were lower than that of the control group, the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Chinese and Western medicine treatment can effectively improve clinical symptoms in the stable stage of class Ⅱ COPD,improve patients'quality of life, reduce the level of inflammatory factors, and reduce the number of acute episodes, colds, and hospitalizations, with obvious effects.
