Effect of Morita therapy on anxiety and depression in patients with diabetes retinopathy
Objective To evaluate the effect of Morita therapy on anxiety and depression in patients with diabetes retinopathy.Methods A total of 85 patients with proliferative diabetes retinopathy who were hospitalized in Hebei Eye Hospital from January 2020 to February 2023 were randomly divided into reading group(n=41)and control group(n=44).The reading group patients were taught the Morita therapy concept through reading Morita therapy books or by library staff through lectures.Nursing staff conducted daily rounds to guide and supervise the reading group patients to follow Morita therapy concepts,while the control group patients did not receive any intervention.Both groups of patients used the self-rating anxiety scale and self-rating depression scale to rate their emotional status at admission and discharge.The scores of anxiety and depression,the changes of blood pressure and the number of times of hyperglycemia were compared between the two groups at admission and discharge.Results The scores of anxiety and depression in reading group at discharge were lower than those at admission,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between the anxiety at discharge,depression scores,and scores at admission of the control group patients(P>0.05).The systolic and diastolic blood pressure at discharge of the reading group patients were lower than those at admission,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of fasting hyperglycemia in the reading group was lower than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Reading Morita therapy books and acting according to Morita therapy ideas in life are effective in improving anxiety and depression of patients with diabetes retinopathy,which is worthy of clinical promotion.
