Application of self-selected topic combined with progressive learning method in scientific research teaching of medical undergraduates
Objective To explore the application effect of self-selected topic combined with progressive learning method in scientific research teaching of medical undergraduates.Methods A total of 38 undergraduate students majoring in clinical medicine from Nanjing Medical University in grade 2020 were selected as the research subjects and were randomly divided into an experimental group(19 students)and a control group(19 students)using a lottery method.From October 1,2022 to April 30,2023,the two groups of students were respectively taught scientific research.The experimental group adopted the progressive learning method.With the assistance of the instructor,the students chose their own topics,made oral reports and group discussions,and made continuous improvements according to new problems.The control group adopted the conventional teaching method,and the instructor gave regular academic lectures.The ability of scientific research was assessed before and after teaching.After the teaching,the satisfaction of the teaching effect was investigated.The observation indexes included the assessment score of scientific research ability before and after teaching and the satisfaction of teaching effect.Results Before scientific research teaching,there was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group(P>0.05).The scores of students in the experimental group and the control group after teaching were higher than those before teaching,and difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After teaching,the scores of students in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The students in the experimental group were more satisfied with scientific research teaching than those in the control group,but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion The method of self-selected topic combined with progressive learning plays an active role in scientific research teaching of medical undergraduates,which is helpful in cultivating students'scientific research ability.
