Evaluation of the intervention effect of medical order review based on the rational medication system on drug therapy for patients with renal insufficiency
Objective To investigate the intervention effect of medical order review based on the rational medication system on drug therapy for patients with renal insufficiency. Methods A total of 423 patients with abnormal renal function admitted to the Affiliated Taian Central Hospital of Qingdao University from July 2021 to December 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. They were divided into two groups according to the acceptance of medical order review, with 206 patients who did not receive medical order reviews as the control group, and 217 patients who received medical order reviews as the test group.Indicators for irrational medication, renal function, average drug cost per session and length of stay were evaluated in the two groups. Results Incidence rate of 7 irrational drug use indicators of indications, dosage and administration, route of administration, vehicle and compatibility, drug selection, interaction, and repeated drug use were lower in the test group than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Three renal function indicators of serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, and creatinine clearance rate were better in the test group than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The average drug cost per session of patients was lower in the test group than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The difference in the indicator of length of stay between the two groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion Medical order review can reduce the risk of medication in patients with renal insufficiency, improve the rate of rational medication and renal function indicators in patients, and reduce the economic burden of medication for patients.
