Gastric cancer is one of the most difficult cancers to cure.In recent years, the incidence of gastric cancer tends to be younger due to the change of dietary and living habits as well as the infection of Helicobacter pylori. There are no typical symptoms in the early stage of gastric cancer,so the diagnosis rate is low and it is difficult to distinguish it from chronic gastritis and other digestive diseases.Clinically,we have been relying on tumor serum markers to detect gastric cancer, such as carcinoembryonic antigen, carbonhydrate antigen 199,carbonhydrate antigen 72-4,pepsinogen,etc.However,the sensitivity and specificity of these markers are not good, and circular RNA(CircRNA),which is a member of the RNA family, has a special structure of closed covalent ring, and has a higher stability and conservatism than the general linear RNAs,which is expected to become a new biomarker or potential biomarker for the early diagnosis of gastric cancer or the treatment of gastric cancer. It is expected to be a novel biomarker for early diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer or a potential target for gastric cancer therapy. In this paper, the structural characteristics, biological properties, biological functions and prognostic evaluation of CircRNAs in gastric cancer are reviewed in order to provide a basis for the early detection and treatment of gastric cancer.
