Evaluation of efficacy of self-made external application of gout prescription on acute gout attack
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of self-made external application of gout prescription in adjuvant treatment of acute gout attack. Methods A total of 80 hospitalized patients with acute gouty arthritis(AGA)from June to December 2022 at Hangzhou Xixi Hospital were selected and randomly divided into a control group(n=40)and an observation group(n=40)using a random number table method. The patients in the control group were treated with conventional western medicine(colchicine, sodium bicarbonate and celecoxib),while the patients in the treatment group were treated with self-made gout prescription on the basis of the control group. The joint symptoms and signs scores, overall curative effect evaluation, patient satisfaction, effective time, erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),C-reactive protein(CRP)and serum uric acid(UA)levels were compared between the two groups. Results After 7 days of treatment, the joint symptom and sign scores,ESR,and CRP levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05),and the effective time of the observation group was shorter than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The treatment satisfaction of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Self-made external application of gout prescription in the adjuvant treatment of acute gout attack has the characteristics of obviously relieving clinical symptoms quickly, relieving inflammatory reaction and having few side effects, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
