Clinical observation on the treatment of chronic tonsillar enlargement in children with small needle knife and traditional Chinese medicine
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of using small needle knife and traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of chronic tonsillar enlargement in children. Methods A total of 90 eligible outpatient patients from Liuzhou Maternal and Child Healthcare Hospital from January 2021 to January 2022 were divided into a small needle knife and traditional Chinese medicine group(n=30),a small needle knife group(n=30),and a traditional Chinese medicine group(n=30)using a random number table method. They were treated with small needle knife and traditional Chinese medicine, small needle knife, and traditional Chinese medicine, respectively.Symptom scores, degree of tonsil shrinkage, and number of recurrent cases within one year before and after treatment were observed. Results The total effective rate of the small needle knife and traditional Chinese medicine group was 86.67%,the small needle knife group was 76.67%,and the traditional Chinese medicine group was 70.00%.The total effective rate of the small needle knife and traditional Chinese medicine group was higher than that of the traditional Chinese medicine group and the small needle knife group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the symptom scores of the three groups were compared, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The symptom scores of the small needle knife and traditional Chinese medicine treatment group improved significantly before and after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After one year of follow-up,the number of cases of tonsillitis attacks after treatment in the small needle knife and traditional Chinese medicine group also decreased. Conclusion The treatment of chronic tonsillar enlargement with small needle knife and traditional Chinese medicine is better than that with simple needle knife or traditional Chinese medicine in improving the symptom score of children, narrowing tonsils and reducing the incidence of tonsillitis.
