Application of buccal needle therapy combined with classical fascia iliaca compartment block in preoperative analgesia for elderly patients with hip fractures
Objective To explore the preoperative analgesic effect of buccal needle combined with classical fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) in elderly patients with hip fracture. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 60 elderly patients who underwent elective hip fracture surgery at Jinjiang Hospital of TCM Affiliated to Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from July 2022 to December 2023. According to different preoperative pain relief methods, they were divided into two groups:the buccal needle therapy combined with classical FICB group (BF group) and the classical FICB group (F group),with 30 cases in each group. The visual analogue scale (VAS) score was recorded before anesthesia position was placed (T1) and at anesthesia position was placed (T2). The quality of anesthesia position, operation time of subarachnoid block, patient satisfaction score and complications were recorded. Results At T2,the VAS score of BF group was lower than that of F group, the quality of anesthesia position was better than that of F group, the operation time of subarachnoid block was shorter than that of F group, and the patient satisfaction score was higher than that of F group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in comparing the total incidence of complications between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion Compared with classic FICB,buccal needle combined with classic FICB can provide a better preoperative analgesic effect for elderly patients with hip fracture, and patients'satisfaction is higher.
