Research progress of macrophage regulation of peritoneal dialysis-related peritoneal fibrosis
Chronic kidney disease is one of the important public health problems, and the end-stage renal disease developed from chronic kidney disease has a high risk of death, which seriously harms human health.Peritoneal dialysis is one of the main alternative therapies for patients with end-stage renal disease, which has unique advantages such as simple operation and low cost, but also has limitations.Peritoneal fibrosis(PF)associated with peritoneal dialysis is one of the major and serious complications of long-term peritoneal dialysis, which can lead to peritoneal ultrafiltration failure and stop dialysis.Prevention and treatment of peritoneal fibrosis has important clinical significance.Macrophages can regulate organ inflammation and fibrosis.Macrophages are the key factors to induce and accelerate the progress of peritoneal fibrosis.Macrophages can promote peritoneal fibrosis by inducing epithelial mesenchymal transition, polarization towards M1 and M2,and being regulated by Th 17 cells. In this paper, the regulation of peritoneal fibrosis by macrophages is reviewed,in order to provide reference for future research on peritoneal fibrosis.
