Meta analysis of the effect of buspirone on cognitive function in patients with schizophrenia
Objective To evaluate the effect of buspirone on cognitive function in patients with schizophrenia using meta-analysis.Methods China CNKI,Wanfang,VIP and Pubmed databases were searched by computer, and randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of buspirone in the treatment of schizophrenia were collected. The time was up to January 2024,and the eligible RCTs were screened one by one according to the established inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the methodological quality was evaluated. The data were analyzed by RevMan 5.3 software. Results A total of 9 RCTs were included, with a cumulative total of 895 patients. The meta-analysis results showed that the efficacy of buspirone as an adjuvant therapy for schizophrenia was significantly better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(OR=6.07,95%CI[3.53,10.45],Z=6.52,P<0.000 01).The cognitive function score of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(MD=3.22,95%CI[2.75,3.69],Z=13.49,P<0.000 01).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse effect between the two groups(OR=1.12,95%CI[0.66,1.91],Z=0.42,P=0.67).Conclusion Adjuvant treatment with buspirone can effectively alleviate clinical symptoms and improve cognitive function in schizophrenia.
