Effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with breast-conserving surgery on early breast cancer and its impact on social adaptability of patients
Objective To analyze the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with breast-conserving surgery on early breast cancer and its impact on social adaptability of patients.Methods The clinical data of 87 patients with early breast cancer who underwent surgery in the Department of General Surgery of the Second People's Hospital of Wuxi City from March 2020 to July 2022 were analyzed retrospectively.According to the operation methods,they were divided into the radical group(n=37)and the breast-conserving group(n=50).The radical group was treated with modified radical operation,while the breast-conserving group was treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with breast-conserving surgery.The clinical efficacy and complications,breast cosmetic effect and social adaptability before and after 6 months,and relapse,metastasis and survival after 12 months were compared between the two groups.Results There was no statistically significant difference in the overall response rate between the two groups(P>0.05).The total incidence of complications in the breast-conserving group was lower than that in the radical treatment group,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).6 months after operation,the excellent rate of breast cosmetic effect in the breast-conserving group was higher than that in the radical treatment group,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).6 months after the operation,the scores of psychological resilience,psychological energy,control tendency and interpersonal adaptability in the breast-conserving group were higher than those in the radical treatment group,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).12 months after the operation,there were no statistically significant differences in relapse,metastasis and survival rate between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with breast-conserving surgery in the treatment of early breast cancer is equivalent to that of modified radical surgery,but neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with breast-conserving surgery can significantly reduce postoperative complications,and simultaneously,it is more in line with aesthetic requirements and conducive to improving the social adaptability of patients.
