Characteristics of Flow Field around Net Coat for Offshore Breeding Equipment
The feasibility of a porous media model is verified to simulate the hydrodynamic response of a cage net in an offshore aquaculture environment with uneven flow rates and different flow directions. The results show that the simulation under uniform velocity distribution will make the calculation result too conservative. When the flow velocity varies exponentially with the depth, the net resistance is maximum. However, the difference in resistance of the net between linear and exponential variation of the flow velocity with the depth is within 20%.In the range of flow direction from 90° to 120°,the total resistance of the diamond-shaped mesh cage is relatively small, and the attenuation area of the flow field is small. This study can provide some reference for the orientation of cages in the actual sea area.
