Effect of Wall Roughness on Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Underwater Submarine within the Vertical Plane near Sea-bed
The hydrodynamic performance of an underwater submersible will be affected when it suffers from hard fouling in operation,Taking the SUBOFF full-attachment model published by David Taylor Model Basin as the research object, the influence of roughness on its oblique hydrodynamic performance on the vertical plane is studied using the RANS method.Numerical research is carried out for the smooth SUBOFF model in infinite depth, and the validity of the numerical calculation is verified by the test results.Hydrodynamic characteristics of the submersible, such as longitudinal force coefficient, vertical force coefficient, pitch moment coefficient, pressure distribution, and wall shear stress, are calculated and analyzed.Effects of roughness, angle of attack, and distance to the seabed on the hydrodynamic characteristics of the submersible are explored. The research will provide a theoretical basis for the control and optimization design of the navigation trajectory of deep-sea submersible operations.
