Numerical Simulation on the Process of Small Boats Entering the Well Dock in Waves
When a ship with well dock sailing in waves, the wave environment of the semi open water area inside the well dock is complex and variable. To avoid safety issues such as collisions and grounding when floating structures such as boats enter and exit,it is necessary to predict the motion characteristics of the boats inside the well dock. This study refers to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship to establish the models of ship with well dock and small boat. And then the process of the small boat entering the well dock in waves is simulated based on the overset grid technology. The motion response and force characteristics of the small boat under different speeds and wave heading angles are studied, and the interaction between the ship and the small boat is analyzed. The research results show that the movement of the small boat after entering the well dock is more intense, and the wave-making phenomenon of the hull is more obvious. At lower speed, the motion amplitude of the small boat is greater, and the decrease in wave heading angle leads to a significant increase in the amplitude of the roll motion of the boat. This study can provide reference for the safe entry and exit plans of small boats inside the ship with well dock.
