Objective In order to study the mechanism of topical Paiteling in the treatment of condyloma acuminatum(CA)based on network pharmacology. Methods Based on the method of network pharmacology,it was found that Paiteling was a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)compound preparation mainly composed of honeysuckle, sophora flavescens, hedyotisdiffusa, brucea javanica, gallnut, fructus cnidii and folium isatidis. The active components and corresponding targets of Paiteling were obtained from the traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology database and analysis platform(TCMSP).The disease targets related to CA were obtained through GeneCards database, and the intersection of genes and targets was taken to make Venn diagram. We constructed a protein-protein interaction network(PPI)using the STRING database and Cytoscape 3.7.1 software, and used R language to download and install relevant R packages from the Bioconductor database to perform corresponding gene ontology(GO)and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes(KEGG)enrichment analysis on the core targets obtained from the intersection. Results A total of 109 active compounds were obtained in TCMSP database, mainly β sitosterol, brucetin, quercetin, etc.A total of 74 disease targets were obtained from GeneCards database.PPI network analysis showed that 15 core proteins including prostaglandin endoperoxide synthase-2(PTGS-2),B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2),peroxisome proliferative activated receptor-γ(PPAR-γ),vascular endothelial growth factor A(VEGF-A)and Cyclin D1(CCND1)were involved.Gene ontology(GO)and KEGG enrichment analysis showed that petrolatum could pass through various cancer pathways, human papillomavirus(HPV)infection,PI3K-Akt signaling pathway human cytomegalovirus infection signal pathway and other multi-channel and multi-target effects on CA.Conclusion Paiteling can treat CA by anti HPV virus and regulating immunity.
