Objective In order to explore the effects of topical milk containing skincare cream in treating children with ichthyosis vulgaris(IV).Methods A total of 78 children aged from 0.5 to 10.0 years old with IV who visited the dermatology outpatient department of Tianjin Children's Hospital from November 2022 to April 2023 were enrolled into the study.A self-control study design was used, and the experimental site was treated with milk containing skincare cream twice a day.Non invasive skin parameter tests and skin microbial sampling were conducted on the first day of enrollment(D0)and the 14th day(D14),respectively.Results A total of 78 children with IV were enrolled, and 55 cases were actually completed. After 14 days of treatment, the water content of the stratum corneum in the experimental site of children in both groups increased compared with before treatment(67.62±3.35 vs.49.11±5.04,P<0.05),the pH value decreased compared with before treatment(4.94±0.36 vs.5.94±0.18,P<0.05),the elasticity increased compared with before treatment(66.76±6.06 vs.53.65±3.82,P<0.05),the differences were statistically significant. There were no statistically significant differences in melanin values before and after treatment(P>0.05).The distribution of microbial communities in the lesion area had significantly improved, and the diversity of microbial communities increased, with statistical significance(P<0.05).All patients had no obvious sensory abnormalities, local infections,or serious adverse reactions. Conclusion Milk containing skincare cream can effectively alleviate the clinical symptoms of children with IV,repair the skin barrier, and have auxiliary therapeutic effects.
