Study on the Chemical Constituents and Pharmacological Effects of the Volatile Oil from Zedoary Turmeric
The volatile oil of Curcumae Rhizoma is the main active part of the medicinal value of Curcumae Rhizoma. The literature reports on the chemical constituents of the volatile oil of Zedoary turmerkc were summarized. It was found that more than 130 components were identified from the volatile oil of Zedoary turmerkc, including terpenoids(monoterpenoids, sesquiterpenoids),ketones(aldehydes),alcohols(phenols),alkanes, acids(esters),ethers, aromatics and other compounds, among which terpenoids were the main compounds.Curcuma volatile oil has anti-tumor,anti-inflammatory,anti-bacterial,anti-viral,anti-thrombosis,liver,nerve protection,anti-oxidation and other pharmacological effects. At present, curcuma oil injection and compound curcuma oil suppository developed by curcuma volatile oil are widely used in clinical practice. In this paper, the extraction process, chemical composition and pharmacological effects of volatile oil from Zedoary turmerkc were reviewed,in order to provide reference for clinical medication and preparation of volatile oil from Zedoary turmerkc.
