Selection and Evaluation of Priority Diseases in Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment——Preliminary Screening Analysis of 101 Diseases
Objective The purpose of this study is to collect information on priority diseases in the field of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)by using multidimensional selection criteria, and to summarize the evidence related to these priority diseases,so as to determine which diseases will be assessed. Methods The diseases committee of the TCM association organized and implemented according to the Technical Guidance on the Selection and Evaluation of Priority Diseases in the Field of TCM.The committee identified priority diseases in TCM by using six dimensions:classification and codes of diseases, coverage of previous diseases, clinical guideline/consensus/clinical pathway, current literature analysis, priority of disease, and scientific and technological achievements. The diseases that progress to the evaluation stage were determined through the expert consensus. Results A total of 101 diseases were preliminarily screened and analyzed, covering 23 disease fields.Pediatrics had the most recommended diseases(7)and cardiovascular diseases(2).Recommendations in other disease areas range from 3 to 5.The expert consensus does not recommend the evaluation of eight diseases:chicken pox, type 2 diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, osteoarthritis, panic disorder, benign prostatic hyperplasia, kidney calculi, and chronic hepatitis B.Therefore,93 diseases are identified in the selection stage and will enter the next evidence-based evaluation. Conclusion Based on the collection of multidimensional selection criteria, the study comprehensively and objectively summarizes the research status of priority diseases in the field of TCM.To lay a foundation for scientifically evaluating the effectiveness, staging, and evidence levels of these priority diseases in TCM.In addition, some suggestions are put forward for the future research direction of each dimension in the field of TCM-priority diseases.
