Objective The study aims to explore the effect and mechanisms of Weifuchun on gastric precancerous lesions based on gastric microbiota. Methods Thirty-seven patients with gastric intestinal metaplasia(GIM)were recruited as treatment group, who received the treatment of Weifuchun for four weeks.Thirty-one healthy individuals were selected as the control group.Gastric microbiota was sequenced based on 16S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing. Results After treatment with Weifuchun in the 37 GIM patients,no GIM was detected in 23 patients, the grades of GIM decreased in 5 patients, and the total effective rate of downgrading GIM was 75.7%.After treatment of Weifuchun in GIM patients, the richness indices(Ace,Chao,Observed OTUs)of microbiota were significantly increased(P<0.01),but the diversity index(Shannon)was not significantly affected by Weifuchun treatment(P>0.05).Linear discriminant analysis(LDA)showed that 16 bacterial genera(Acinetobacter,Fusobacterium,Leptotrichia, etc.)were enriched in GIM patients after Weifuchun treatment. The KEGG predicting function showed that membrane transport,ABC transporters, lipid metabolism and fatty acid metabolism pathway were enriched in the GIM patients with Weifuchun treatment. Conclusion Weifuchun treatment significantly increased the abundance of gastric microflora and the predictive function lipid metabolism in GIM patients, which might represent the blood-activating and stasis-eliminating function.
