Cognition and Evaluation of Mental Health Education by Classroom Teachers in Secondary Vocational Schools Based on Research Evidence
In order to comprehensively understand the cognitions and evaluations of classroom teach-ers in secondary vocational schools on mental health education,a web-based questionnaire survey was con-ducted on 1,019 classroom teachers from 82 secondary vocational schools in 20 provinces and cities across China.Using descriptive statistics and χ2 analysis,it was found that,in general, classroom teachers in sec-ondary vocational schools were satisfied with the current mental health education work of their schools,be-lieving that the mental health curriculum in secondary vocational schools embodied the characteristics of vo-cational education, and that the school's policies were conducive to career development. However, when ana-lyzed specifically on an individual basis, there were significant differences in the perceptions and evaluations of classroom teachers in secondary vocational schools at the management, participation, and parenting levels of mental health education,as well as at the level of personal development. In the future,at the management level,we should raise our position, further implement the system of curriculum and teaching materials selec-tion for mental health education in secondary vocational schools, and increase the investment of special funds and dedicated management,so as to promote the sustainable development of mental health education. At the nurturing level,a mental health education atmosphere with characteristics of secondary vocational schools should be actively created to ensure that classroom teachers in secondary vocational schools actively partici-pate in home-school co-education,increase their participation in mental health education, and play the role of"guarding the door and protecting the students".At the level of personal development, the professional training of classroom teachers in mental health education should be further strengthened to enhance their ability and vigor in dealing with mental health problems, and the incentive mechanism for classroom teachers should be further improved to promote self-acceptance and recognition of mental health education.
