Content is the soul of textbooks.Using the content analysis method, this paper analyzes the content characteristics of the"14th Five-Year Plan"vocational education national planning textbooks in fi-nance and trade major category from four dimensions:concept of textbook design, textbook structure,text-book design, and integration of paper and digitization. The study found inadequate alignment between the design concept and standards of competency-based textbooks; The"chapter section"style directory struc-ture still accounts for a large proportion, and content of the textbooks has obvious differences in themes; The phenomenon of title-style projects and superposition of theory and reality is prominent;Digital resources are mainly integrated into micro course videos using QR codes, which have problems of inconsistency and low usage.Accordingly,it is proposed to improve the adaptability, detailed description and timeliness of teaching standards for higher vocational education, pay attention to the development of technical and theo-retical knowledge of professional core course textbooks, integrate theoretical and practical knowledge with practical issues as a link, and develop digital resources supporting teaching materials in combination with the characteristics of course content and the needs of learners and other optimization strategies.
