Analysis of Differences in the Willingness of Primary and Secondary School Teachers to Accept Vocational Education for Their Children
National policies and laws require all sectors of society to actively create a favorable atmo-sphere for the development of vocational education. In the context of the separation of general vocational ed-ucation and low public acceptance of vocational education, the acceptance of vocational education by prima-ry and secondary school teachers deserves attention.Through a survey of 15 625 primary and secondary school teachers nationwide,it was found that the willingness of primary and secondary school teachers to send their children to vocational education is relatively low, only 27.9%,with significant differences among demographic variables.Teachers with higher education levels are less willing to send their children to voca-tional colleges, while teachers in economically developed eastern regions, prefecture level cities, and provin-cial capitals are less willing to send their children to vocational colleges.Except for teachers with an annual income of over 100 000 yuan and whose professional titles have not been determined, teachers with higher annual income and professional titles are more willing to send their children to vocational colleges.There-fore,it is suggested that in order to form a correct view of labor and career,it is necessary to require primary and secondary school teachers to gradually infiltrate relevant knowledge of vocational enlightenment educa-tion in their daily courses and activities.More and more middle school and ordinary high school teachers should be required to promote vocational education to students,so that students understand that vocational education is also a suitable way to grow and succeed. In the positive promotion of vocational education, more requirements should be placed on male teachers, teachers with an annual income level of less than 100 000 yuan and higher income and professional titles, because they are more able to receive vocational education, and their advantageous identity and status are more likely to gain the trust and acceptance of stu-dents and parents.
